About Us

Hey there, we're Jon & Zee 👋🏻

your not-so-average husband & wife duo, who found our love for making coffee at home not so long ago. We fell into the hobby of being home baristas and now we can't get out of the rabbit hole.

From the beginning

How we started

What started as two coffee lovers learning to brew their first cup of coffee at home has become something much bigger—a space where we share our passion for making coffee approachable, fun, and a little more special every day.

We’re not professionals—we’re home baristas just like you. The empty corner in our home became a coffee corner, and every cup became a chance to learn (and laugh) together. Along the way, we realized coffee isn’t just about the perfect shot or pour—it’s about the experience, the mess, the joy, and the people you share it with.

That was also when we decided to start documenting our journey on YouTube.

Our goal for Grounded & Nestled

Where we are heading

Ceramic drinkware on the market are mostly designed with cafes in mind. They are white, boring, glossy glazed cups with an ear-shaped handle. As much as they are functional in a café setting, we wanted something less generic-looking.

We want to create a collection of thoughtfully designed products for home baristas like us. Pieces that look good in your home, feel good in your hands, and make your daily caffeine routine just a little easier (and a lot more enjoyable).

"We created the cups and modular barista mat for fellow home baristas looking to add a little character to their coffee bar. Your favourite corner of the house shouldn't have to look like cafés with dull, plain cups that were designed decades ago."

A little bit more about Jon & Zee

Here are some Q&As we asked ourselves that nobody asked for, but here it is!

What made you start the home barista journey/hobby?

We lived in Australia for a few years and if you've been there, you'd know they have the best coffee! After returning to SG, we really missed the convenience of getting specialty coffee around every corner so we thought we would bring it to our house, literally.

Hence, we decided to sign up for a barista course. (also because mid-life crisis is real, we all need some kind of hobby 😂)

What's your favourite type of coffee?

Jon: My go-to order when in Aus was a Flat White. It seemed like it was the most common drink that Aussies liked. I ordered that once and somehow, it just became my regular order. However, I feel like I prefer a Cappuccino more, now that I am making my own coffee 🤷🏻 I guess it just depends on the mood hahah!

Zee: For me, I wasn’t a coffee drinker in the beginning. So my usual coffee order would be a mocha since it’s not as bitter as a latte. However, after living in Australia for a good few years and with ‘exposure therapy’ from Jon’s flat whites, I became a coffee convert. Now, I enjoy my flat whites and iced coffee with a scoop of ice-cream on hot days. ☺️

What do you like best about having a home coffee bar?

The ability to have a good cup of coffee anytime! Other than the daily morning coffee, we sometimes crave another iced latte, especially on a hot afternoon on the weekends.

All we have to do is turn on the machine, and wa la, we saved $7 and have a cup of delicious, iced latte without leaving home.

What do you dislike most about having a home coffee bar?

Cleaning, definitely cleaning and maintaining the area hahah. Although it can get tedious and tiring, cleaning is essential especially for the espresso machine and grinder.

We try to clean up after ourselves every day, but we do still carry out a deeper clean every now and then. The bright side is that coffee doesn't attract ants/insects which is perfect because that's one less thing to worry about!

We appreciate your interest!
